September's Celestial Guide

Astrologers will remember this month (September 2009) because it contains the third (of five) Uranus Opposition Saturn aspects that occur between November 2008 and July of 2010. But, most people will see this as a relatively comfortable (even genial) month, almost forgettable. Still, there is the nagging feeling in each of us that the world that we once knew is passing away and that a new world is being born. Uranus represents the new energy that demands change, Saturn represents the way that things always have been. This confrontational Opposition is personalized by the Sun and Mercury Transiting through Virgo Conjuncting Saturn and Opposing Uranus. Hence, this great archetypical Opposition now enters our everyday life. We are forced to evaluate and make choices. The voice of change can not be silenced.

The Full Moon is on September 4th at 12:04 PM EDT. Full Moons are a dramatic moment of climax and a wonderful opportunity to get quiet within ourselves and meditate. This particular Full Moon stresses the act of service and our way of belonging to our community. With Mercury just getting ready to go Retrograde, just having passed the Square to Mars and Pluto which Oppose each other, this is a moment to adjust our thinking. Letting go of attitudes and possessions that no longer serve us is the first step of being able to become more effective in our lives.

Our New Moon in September is on the 18th at 2:44 PM EDT. For the last two years (since Saturn went into Virgo), I have been encouraging people to simplify, see what truly works, and eliminate the junk from the past. Well, now both Sun and Moon are Conjunct Saturn and Opposing Uranus (the god of change). Resisting change is no longer an option. Still, we get to choose where we spend our time. What things are truly valuable? If your house is on fire what things to you take with you as you leave? Set your intentions for the coming lunar month with a practical mindset; dealing effectively with forced changes is easiest if you have planned your goals with a realistic appraisal of current limitations. We have the opportunity to do some fundamental prioritizing.

The Sun enters Libra on September 22nd at 5:19 PM EDT. As the Sun crossing the Autumnal Equinox begins our fall season, our mood shifts. Traditionally, this is a time of relationships; achieve harmony, balance, and gathering new information. This year Venus (goddess of love and beauty) is in Virgo, along with the Mercury Saturn Conjunction; this shows that we are pre-occupied with undone tasks from the summer. This Solar month will require an unusual amount of individual effort and focusing on the tasks at hand. Everyone’s personal lives take more managing than usual. Be patient, stay focused, forgive others and your burden is automatically lighter.

From the 1st to the 6th we seem to be in a hurry and always pressed for time. It is as if we are trying to complete something but we aren’t sure exactly where to invest our time. Balance of mind and the pragmatic habit of correct sequencing helps us achieve our various goals, one after the other.

From the 7th to the 13th we simultaneously slow down and expand our vision. Now is a time of revision and gaining new perspective. Work and home dominate most everyone’s thinking. Family is very important and we try to accommodate our need to feel that we really belong to some group.

From the 14th to the 20th there is a grand display of interest in life and in the arts. We have big ideas but little energy. Success comes to those who focus their attention on fairly narrow goals and stay with them through all the changes of the week.

From the 21st to the 27th we are all too preoccupied with our own lives. Relationships are very important but we seem to have so much going on in our everyday work we end going it alone. Don’t worry; some times being alone is okay. Groups are able to accomplish things that individuals can’t. Be open to working in concert with others.

From the 28th to the 30th we move like a freight train; slow, methodical, and with the strength of the universe behind us. When your cause is just, no personal sacrifice is too much, and success is guaranteed.

1st – Tuesday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Jupiter – We have high hopes and great expectations. Be careful that you don’t promise more than you can deliver. Harmony and expediency may get in each other’s way. Take that time to be diplomatic but for God’s sake, keep moving.

2nd – Wednesday – Mars Sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Venus Semi-square Saturn – We have big plans and little annoyances; struggles may occur while we try to make good on our promises. Internal pressure comes from mental conflict. Avoid being locked up in minutia and be willing to take bold steps.

3rd – Thursday – Mercury Square Mars, Venus Contra-parallel Pluto, Venus Sesquiquadrate Uranus – Feelings run deep and there is a sense of urgency prompting everyone to be less cautious. Express your positive emotions and attempt to redirect your anger.

4th – Friday – Full Moon at 12:04 PM EDT – Let go of the things you can’t complete right now so that you can concentrate on the things worth doing. Don’t be afraid to let go of the past; this is the way to start a new form of organization for the future.

5th – Saturday – Be honest with yourself first, and then be willing to change the way you view life, others, and your current situation. Start something new today.

6th - Sunday – Sun Contra-parallel Mercury – Be willing to review past actions. Miscommunications can surface and we struggle to get clarity with the most important people in our lives.

7th – Monday – Mercury turns Retrograde – Many things are put in place quickly, but other people are sometimes left behind. Getting everyone to view circumstances from the same perspective is difficult but not impossible. Appeal to everyone’s sense of value and establish common ground.

8th – Tuesday – Venus Sesquiquadrate Pluto – Negative thoughts and feelings can grow completely on their own. Slow down, give others the benefit of the doubt, and have faith that your practical concerns and obligations will be met.

9th – Wednesday – Venus Contra-parallel Jupiter, Mars Sesquiquadrate Neptune –We all tend to be enthusiastic and passionate about something now. It is alright that you see things differently than everyone else. But, you need to make room in your universe for other people’s opinions. Diversity and plurality makes the day interesting and opens your life to some new opportunities.

10th – Thursday – Sun Semi-sextile Venus – There are some truly beautiful people in your life who need your help; let them know how much you care. Your life ultimately improves with the quality of your personal relationships.

11th – Friday – Venus Opposite Jupiter, Sun Quincunx Jupiter, Pluto turns Direct – Bold initiative started today will pay big dividends in the future. Now is a time of planting seeds then waiting.

12th – Saturday – Mercury Semi-square Venus, Sun Parallel Saturn, Saturn Quincunx Neptune – Take the time to uncover the causes of disagreements, correct past errors. Our goals are reached one step at a time.

13th – Sunday – Unrecognized or unexpressed emotions can make life difficult. Take action on the immediate tasks; don’t indulge feelings of weakness. It is easy to let today go by without major accomplishment; we do better to express our feelings but then move forward.

14th – Monday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Jupiter –
Translate thoughts into action and words into deeds. Follow through and follow up on every new idea that you can. Today is great for getting a different perspective on long standing problems.

15th – Tuesday – Saturn Opposite Uranus, Sun Contra-parallel Uranus, Venus Opposite Neptune, Venus Quincunx Uranus – This is a time of large scale change in the world. Feelings of love all around us can seem overwhelming and we can easily be swept away in the changes and opportunities of the moment. Everyone and everything may seem slightly unbalanced right now. Being willing to entertain a different world view and remember harmony does not have to mean stagnation.

16th – Wednesday – Venus Semi-sextile Saturn, Venus Contra-parallel Neptune, Sun Quincunx Neptune, Sun Quincunx Neptune, Mercury Contra-parallel Saturn – At times our impulses and intuitions don’t seem reasonable. Harmony is not just a good principle but practically the only way to get things done. It is important to hold fast to your principles without becoming stubborn.

17th – Thursday – Sun Opposite Uranus, Mercury Square Pluto, Sun Conjunct Saturn, Mercury enters Virgo – Interruptions and opposition can slow the pace of work. Be willing to go to a little extra trouble to understand those who disagree with you. Pleasing everyone is not a possibility today, but it is possible to achieve something if you keep working.

18th – Friday – Mercury Parallel Uranus, the New Moon is at 2:44 PM EDT – The pressure to do something new and the mountain of details involved in every change can be daunting. Set your intentions and make some time for personal planning.
